In my previous post I wrote about framing as a way to lead the viewers attention to the topic you want him/her to focus on. Another way to draw you viewer into the picture is using leading lines
What: leading lines are lines in your picture which create depth. Often S shapes lines are very strong in creating this sense of depth
Why: most photos are 2 dimensional. Our brain creates the third dimension. For example when you place two objects on a road one is close by and the other is further away. It may look like that the two objects are different in size, but because you see the road you know that objects are rather similar in size. The road is however essential for this sense of depth. You can make use of lines such as roads, rivers and paths to make a stronger image.
How: try to identify roads which which move away from you. Have something of interest on the line. The first picture you can see where the cyclers are probably going. In the second image you can see that the women with the girls are following the people in front of them
