Getting close .......
Close up photography, or macro photography is certainly worth a try. You don't need extremely fancy equipment to get nice results. I found good light one of the key factors. Because you are focusing in on a particular subjects you need enough light to get the required sharpness. The photo below was taken with a flash set up against a corner of two white walls. In addition I used an on camera flash. In this way the subjects got light from almost 4 angles. The two walls bounce light from left and right. The flash, not only illuminates the walls but also give some direct light from under beneath your subject. Your on camera flash is your fourth light source.
Some people have asked me to post some photos of black and white background. On the right I have posted 2 portraits. One is the boy with the ball (the one I showed in the video a couple of days ago). The other example is more subtle. As you can see there are two elements with colour, the girls with the dress and some leaves . The original photos already has a bit of a black and white background. Both pictures were taken in Melbourne. I also added an example of a white background. In this example the white shirt of the girls blends in with the white background. The pattern on the shirt now gets more emphasis. All photos were taken with a Canon 7D, sigma 17-55 mm 2.8
